We’ve all heard the old adage, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” It’s an old adage because it is very true. However, it can be true in a good way and it can also be true in a way that leaves buyers with a very poor first impression.

Research suggests that 95% of online buyers spent 20 crucial seconds looking at the first photo, usually the exterior of the home, and making subconscious decisions about whether to keep looking or move on.

The important thing seems to be, is there an emotional connection? Can they see themselves in the property, growing old, raising children? That “connection” to a property is so important to buyers and therefor sellers, especially when it all starts (or ends) with a photograph.

Not only do professional real estate photos help create a better connection between home buyers and their future home, but they help listings sell higher and faster. Listings with high quality photographs garner 61% more views than listings without, leading to a 32% faster selling rate.

Of course, none of this is surprising to us at RP Snap. In Atherton, Mareeba, Cairns and in fact most areas of the north, we are seeing an increase in agents and vendors booking professional real estate photography and seeing the benefits. With around 83% of all buyers (93% of younger buyers) searching for property online, we don’t see this trend changing any time soon.
